Anyone who watched episodes of “The Jetsons” as a kid likely dreamed about one day riding around in a flying car. And that dream might actually turn into a reality sooner than you'd think.
Uber recently released a paper detailing the company's desire to start a network of electric aircraft that can take off and land vertically. The company doesn't plan to actually make those vehicles themselves. But there are others working on it already.
Slovakian company AeroMobil is currently light-testing its prototype two-seat flying roadster. And it hopes that the vehicle can be released as early as next year.
The actual feasibility of using those vehicles remains to be seen. There are likely still tons of roadblocks that companies will need to go through before you'll see flying Ubers taking people to and from their destinations on a regular basis.
Want In On a Fast Growing Industry?
But it does show how quickly some industries evolve. Many people think of flying cars as something they'll only ever see in movies. But others are working to actually make them a reality. So if you want to be a part of a fast growing industry like this one, you have to be ready to move quickly and do things that might seem impossible to outsiders.
