What Small Businesses Can Learn From the Plan to Colonize Mars (Watch)

Elon Musk wants to colonize Mars. And while that isn't likely to actually happen for many years, the billionaire CEO is getting closer.

This week, Musk tweeted the first photos of the Raptor interplanetary transport engine shooting fire from its jets. The engine, which has been in development for years, reportedly has enough power to make the journey.

Of course, this is just one small step in the process. But a goal like this is going to take some time. And in order for Musk and his rocket science company SpaceX to actually achieve the goal of colonizing Mars, they have to come up with a way to get there first.

This is a lesson that many businesses could learn, even ones with goals that are a bit less extensive and more down to Earth, literally. When you have things you want to achieve, you need to dedicate a lot of time and energy to them. And you have to go one step at a time.

Small Goals Lead to Big Achievements

Plans are great. But if Musk were to create all the plans for a Mars colony now and then fail when it comes to actually getting to Mars, then all that work would be for naught. So you have to start (relatively) small and go one step at a time in order to make really big things happen.
