The V20 from LG (KRX:066570) was announced in August, and it is now available online from Verizon (NYSE:VZ) targeting content creators.
Today's smartphones are more than just phones, and manufacturers are addressing different segments with a range of models. With the V20, LG has designed a device with quality audio/video capture technology, and a removable battery to ensure you always have power with extra batteries.
The V20 has two rear cameras, a 16MP standard lens and an 8MP wide-angle camera along with a front 5MP wide-angle lens. The hybrid autofocus can track and focus with more clarity while creating different video film effects. The software also includes the LG Steady Record 2.0, which lets you capture better still and video images whether you are running or standing still.
When it comes to the audio, LG has integrated Hi-Fi Quad DAC playback and the ability to record sound using a 24-bit / 48 kHz LPCM format, which is used by professional movie producers. The audio features let you record over a separate audio track using three sensitive AOP mics for Hi-Fi Recording.
Being able to capture high-quality audio and video is great, but if you run out of juice, it can put a halt to the creative process. The V20 has a removable 3200mAh battery. This means you can have one or two extra batteries and not worry about charging.
At $648 retail, the LG V20 is not cheap, but it has some premium hardware. This includes a 5.7 inch quad-HD display; Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 64GB of memory (expandable to 2TB with MicroSD), 4GB of RAM, and Android 7.0 Nougat.
Manufacturers are now aware there is not a device that can address the needs of all users. The LG V20 is going after content creators by giving them the hardware and software they need to capture high quality audio and video.
